Eucharistic Adoration (First Friday)

Date

Description

A time of silent, informal prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament (Eucharist). All are welcome to arrive the they can and to stay for as long or short a time as they can.

We believe that the Lord Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist and so we gather to spend time in his blessed presence. We bring to him our thanksgiving for all his gifts and graces; our petitions and prayers; our needs and the needs of others.

How often long hours and days pass without anyone visiting the Lord Jesus in his Eucharistic presence. How often he is neglected, ignored, or even offended in the Blessed Sacrament. For these occasions, we offer prayers of reparation.

We pray especially for the sick and dying--and for ourselves, we ask the grace of a holy and happy death when our last hour, appointed by his love and wisdom, arrives.

Whether we are in need of consolation, strengths, forgiveness, courage, love, mercy... we come to the Lord Jesus, source of all that is good. We remember his calling words: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."

We also come in penitence, remembering how often we were ungrateful towards God; how often we strayed from the right way; how often we offended his love and mercy by our sins or ingratitude. We come with the intention to make amends, with his help, for these our sins, offences, and negligences.

Finally, we pray for and on behalf of those who do not know the Lord Jesus, who have abandoned him, or who have grievously offended his loving Heart by mortal sins.
